The University of UDINE organizes every year a seminar to encourage and guide researchers on the application for ERC grants.

A few weeks ago a had the opportunity to participate in the seminar organized at the University of Udine about "what makes an ERC proposal successful". It was a very unique seminar counting with not only researchers that were granted throught this funding schemes (ERC Starting, Consolidator and Advanced) but also with experts involved in the reviewing process. I find this type of seminar of great help and I feel many universities should profit from to engage the researchers in these funding schemes and, in some cases, encourage them to participate.

I personally liked this opportunity, since it allowed me to share what I discovered in the journey of applying for an ERC StG, tips and tricks to pay attention and mostly advices I got from more senior researchers (Prof. Kevin Sivula (EPFL), Prof. Ulrich Lorenz (EPFL), Prof. Teresa Lana-Villarreal (UA) , etc) when I was preparing the application.

I find this type of seminar of great help and I feel many universities should profit from to engage the researchers in these funding schemes and, in some cases, encourage them to participate.

Overall I would like to thank Michaela Pin for all the organization and Prof. Alessandro Gasparetto for the invitation, Prof. Federico Varese for the very interesting discussions as well as all the very active participants.
