Prof. Bettina Lotsch organizes every year a scientific retreat with his group to disconnect from the lab routine and get to know other research topics that may intersect and overlap with their main research lines, or simply inspire the scientist from her group and expand their horizons. Which, by the way, looks like a great idea!
I was honored to be invited to join the retreat and share some of the latest studies on spectroelectrochemistry and materials engineering that I have been involved into and leading during the last few years. The location was the perfect choice to create the atmosphere you need for discussion (Schloss Fürstenried). The talks encompassed a wide range of topics, from machine learning (with Dr. Michael Gaultois), to lithionics (inspiring talk from Prof. Jennifer Rupp), among many others on photovoltaics, photoelectrochemistry and even speakers for companies, making the seminars much broader and exciting. Overall, a great opportunity to chat with scientist, professors and young researchers, get inspired and build collaborations.

Special thanks to Bettina for the invitation and the stimulating discussions, and also to my good friend Liang Yao, one of the greatest scientist I have the opportunity to work with when we met at EPFL. He is developing a new generation of catalytic covalent organic frameworks within Lotsch’s group. The work of Bettina's group is very creative and always at the forefront of research, check it out here.
