The ASSET lab has been recipient of one of the few grants awarded by the Generalitat Valenciana in the framework of fighting against the climate emergency within a special call of 2022 (Link). The project called TRANSOL (REF: AGPIDI/2022/03/004) aims at developing a new generation of photovoltaic devices based on earth-abundant materials and scalable manufacturing techniques to accelerate the implementation of this technology in the booming markets of IoT and BIPV.
Ayudas al desarrollo y aplicación de proyectos de I+D+i en materia medioambiental de adaptación, mitigación del cambio climático y transición ecológica en la Comunitat Valenciana, y convocatoria correspondiente al ejercicio presupuestario 2022.
Within the myriad initiatives to fight Climate change, making buildings more sustainable has gaining momentum in the last years. Indeed, the European Commission has identified that the energy consumption of buildings, due to illumination, air conditioning, …. accounts for 40 % of the global energy consumption. Therefore, developing buildings that are energetically more efficient and that are capable to integrate renewables is crucial to address this issue and secure the energy transition. In this context, the photovoltaic technology proposed within TRANSOL pursues to reimagine the way we harvest light (indoor and outdoor) to produce electricity, turning buildings into urban powerhouses.
